Hello from The Thurstons
Are you ready for the weekend? I know I am. We have been off for the past few weeks enjoying some time away on vacation with our families. Monty went camping up at Mackinac City with his family for a week and then came home to wash clothes, repack, and head out camping again in southwest Michigan with some of the family again.
Marni and I went to the Smoky Mountains where we rented a large cabin and had all of our family with us for 5 days. There were 24 of us in one large cabin and we had a blast. After 5 days they all left and Marni and I then went to a smaller cabin and rested from 5 days with the entire family. LOL
We all had a great time.
Today we load the bus at 6pm and head to the thumb of Michigan for the Lloyd Severance Thumb Gospel Music Convention. We load in and sound check at 9pm tonight and sing at the 12:15pm slot tomorrow afternoon. When the concert is over tomorrow night we will load the bus and head back home to be with our home church families on Sunday. We’ll probably get to bed around mid-night tonight and get home around mid-night tomorrow night. Ya’ll pray for us as we travel and sing, sharing the best news that ever hit the face of the earth…The Gospel!!
We’ve had a busy couple of days getting the bus ready to go. I’ve attached some pictures for you to see the front and back end up in the air on ramps so our mechanic could get under there to do some greasing, adjust the air brakes, and do an updated DOT inspection. He also had to repair a broken wire to a light and change out a belt in the engine compartment. There’s always something to do, but we’re grateful for the mode of transportation God has blessed us with.
Many know, but in case you don’t, we had to have the engine rebuilt in the bus the first of this year and it ended up costing more than we anticipated, due to old and failing parts that were found throughout the process. We’re getting close to having the balance all paid for. We sure appreciate your prayer of agreement for that need to be met.
I also wanted to share some news about our Thurston Homecoming in October. 2 Cities. 2 different nights. See the dates and locations on the poster that I’ve attached. Save the dates on your calendar, and plan to be with us for An Evening With The Thurstons. It’s always a great couple of nights and a special time together.
Keep an eye on our schedule and come out and be with us when we’re near you. We always post updates on Facebook, so if you’re on Facebook, befriend us and you’ll see our postings.
We appreciate you all so much and are grateful for your friendship and the continued support you show to the ministry of The Thurstons. We look forward to seeing you somewhere down the road. God bless, and have a wonderful weekend.
